My name is Christina and I am a 34 year old mom of two, wife, and boss for my own company. My husband and I recently purchased our dream home in south central Pa on just under 10 acres of land. I grew up in MD where my mom introduced me to camping. Now, it wasn't true camping per say as we camped at the local fairground during the fair as my mom had a booth there selling crafts. But to a child it was the most awesome thing in the world. I love hunting and fishing as well. I can remember questioning my dad when he would come home from pheasant hunts what the birds were and why he shot them. I also remember crying when he told me he hunted deer. (Hey, i was young and Bambi was my favorite movie, lol.) Years later my dad introduced me to hunting. We had moved to a farm and we needed rabbit control, which became one of my chores. So every night i sat and waited for bunny foo foo to hop into the garden to try and eat all the veggies we planted. After a couple years of standing guard over our garden, i asked about deer hunting. I really wanted to go. So, my dad put me into the local hunters safety course. |
That year was my first year hunting, and I can remember the excitement of bagging my first deer. My dad and I were sitting in a stand when a group of 6 doe came to about 30 yards from us. My dad whispered to pick out one of the bigger does and aim, then breath in and slowing pull the trigger as i exhaled. The jolt from the rifle as i pulled the trigger knocked my hat (an Elmer Fudd hat lol) down over my face so i couldn't see my doe. As i ripped the hat off my head and asked my dad where my deer was, he replied with, "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I still need to shoot one". So i bit my lips in anticipation. He shot and then turned to me. I asked where my deer was. He pointed to where i shot. And there she lay, right where i shot her. A perfect heart shot. My dad to this day still grumbles as his doe ran about 50 yards and mine dropped. Oh and i picked the biggest doe of the herd lol. Now, as an adult, i am still working on collecting my first buck. I shot one last archery, but was never able to find it after 3 days of searching. Now with the new house and land, i have been keeping track of movement, feed routines, and learning the deer on our property. |
There are two shooters on my list for this year. I hope they stick around. I also grew up fishing, ponds mostly and once i got older salt water when we would go on vacation. Personally i prefer salt water fishing but i don't mind fresh water from time to time. I really want to try fishing for Salmon one day. I also want to hunt elk. I am super excited to share my love for hunting, fishing, and camping with my children and make many more memories with them.
