So, it is about two weeks away from opening day here in Virginia. We are all going through our homes and storage lockers gathering all of our lose hunting gear to do final inspections and make sure things are in proper working order.
We have made sure our Camo still fits from last season, that our weapon of choice has been cleaned, oiled, sighted, and ready for our first shot. But this is also a great time to reevaluate our current supplies. Time to review the latest tech and gear on the market to try and give us every advantage in our quests to fill our freezers with freshly harvested animals.
So is it a new rifle that you have been eyeing all year, or did you forget about the rip in your hunting blind that has gotten bigger over the off season? Did you thing to yourself last year about replacing some out of date gear, or se a much better product in the latest issue of your favorite hunting magazine?
Gear has always been a weakness of mine. Not that I long for the latest and greatest; (well sometimes), but that i never know what to leave behind and what is an absolute necessity to carry into the woods. I have hunted with the same group of guys everyone I began hunting. Most times these gentlemen head off into the woods with little more then their weapons. Meanwhile I'm heading out with a loaded pack of goodies to hopefully make my time in the woods more comfortable and more successful then previous trips.
Some treks are more successful then others, and there'll always be newer and better products on the market that may or may not be the best thing your money can buy to make every hunting adventure end with lots of freezers full of fresh meat.
So with all of this in mind; I would love to hear back from any and all of our readers about what type of items do you pack for every hunt. I know that I have quite a few things that come with me every time I hit the woods, but there are also a few specialty items that only get used depending on the situation.
So how about you? Please feel free to comment below and let us all know what type of gear you have decided that you just can't hunt without.
Happy hunting, and please stay safe out there.
